Zenit St. Petersburg
Zenit’s Recent Form and Squad Update
Zenit had a highly productive week at home before facing Valeri Karpin’s Dynamo, but, to be fair, it shouldn’t be overstated, as their opponents weren’t particularly strong. In the RPL at Fisht, they defeated Sochi 3-0 with two controversially awarded penalties. Subsequently, Semak’s team decisively beat Orenburg 6-0 at home in a Cup match that held no tournament significance, allowing their immediate reserves to get playing time.
Against the White-Blues (Dynamo), the Russian vice-champions scored three goals per half; Erokhin was particularly active with a brace, and young Shilov along with the highly-rated Gerson also found the net. For this crucial match against Dynamo, the hosts will be without Moskvichev, while the participation of Cassierra and Eraković remains doubtful.

Dynamo Moscow
Dynamo’s Current State and Challenges
Dynamo is having a very inconsistent debut season under Karpin. There are significant questions surrounding the national team coach’s club, especially regarding their defensive play, which certainly hasn’t improved since Lichka’s tenure, as clearly demonstrated in the last round.
Initially, Karpin’s team barely salvaged a home draw against Akhmat (2-2), with Tyukavin, recently returned from a serious injury, equalizing in stoppage time. Cherchesov largely outplayed his counterpart, but Sadullaev missed a penalty against the young Rasulov, shooting over the bar, which ultimately cost Dynamo two points at the VTB Arena. Following this, Dynamo managed to qualify for the RPL Cup playoffs by thrashing Krylya’s reserves 4-0 at home. However, a real test now awaits the White-Blues. They are still without Chavez, Arthur Gomes, Maistorovic, and Makarov, and to this quartet, Fomin is added due to an accumulation of yellow cards, which is a significant blow.

Match Outlook and Prediction
In my opinion, this match promises to be an entertaining and high-scoring affair. Zenit, with their potent attack and ambition to become champions in their 100th year in the RPL, will push forward. Dynamo, despite their squad issues and defensive vulnerabilities, will certainly not sit back. Instead, they will aim to create sharp counter-attacks through Bitello, Tyukavin, and Gladyshev.
