Turkish football enters 2026/27 with a level of financial firepower rarely seen outside Europe's traditional "big five" leagues. The combined squad value across the Süper Lig now sits at roughly €1.56 billion, more than €260 million has already changed hands this summer, and marquee names including Mohamed Salah, Dusan Vlahovic, Mason Greenwood, Romelu Lukaku, Nathan Ake and Leandro Trossard have all arrived at Turkish clubs in a single window. At the centre of it all, Galatasaray defend a title they have now won four seasons in a row, but Fenerbahce — who have not lifted the championship since 2013/14 — enter this season with the league's most valuable squad and arguably its most aggressive summer business. Odds from 22Bet, Melbet, 1xBet and Mostbet cover the outright winner market, and this preview goes beyond the table to cover the history behind Turkey's growing football economy, the European commitments shaping both title favourites, and every major transfer driving this year's spending spree.

Galatasaray: Chasing History Against Turkey's Deepest-Spending Rival

Galatasaray's odds of 2.10-2.20 make them essentially inseparable from Fenerbahce at the top of this market, a genuine photo finish between a club with recent history on its side and one determined to end a painful drought. Galatasaray's core remains built around Victor Osimhen, whose permanent €75 million transfer last year shattered the Super Lig's transfer record after a loan spell that produced 37 goals in all competitions, and Leroy Sane, signed as a free agent from Bayern Munich to add further attacking quality on the flanks. Having already won four straight titles and pushed their all-time championship count into record-extending territory, Galatasaray enter this season as the club with everything to lose — and the shortest odds reflect a squad the market still considers the benchmark, even against Fenerbahce's spending.

Fenerbahçe and the Rest of the Chasing Pack

Fenerbahce, priced level with Galatasaray at 2.10, enter the season with the league's most valuable squad at approximately €338 million, narrowly ahead of Galatasaray's €325 million, and by most assessments "won" Turkey's summer transfer window outright. The club's incoming business reads like a greatest-hits list of recent European recruitment: Nathan Ake from Manchester City, Vedat Muriqi from Mallorca, and Mason Greenwood in a €39 million move from Marseille that stands as the single biggest transfer completed in Turkey so far this summer — Greenwood arrives having produced 37 goals and 13 assists in 66 Ligue 1 appearances, numbers that immediately make him one of the most dangerous forwards in the division. Romelu Lukaku's arrival adds further proven firepower, while winter-window signings Matteo Guendouzi and Sidiki Cherif, the latter arriving from Angers in a deal worth around €25 million once obligations are included, rounded out one of the most ambitious rebuilds anywhere in European football this year. Beyond the top two, Trabzonspor at 9.00 finished eight points off top spot last season while winning the Turkish Cup, and used Mohamed Salah's arrival — the club's biggest-ever signing at 34 years old — to signal genuine title intent, while Besiktas, at 10.00-11.00, backed a summer rebuild built around Dusan Vlahovic, Leandro Trossard's £20 million move from Arsenal, midfielder Orkun Kokcu, goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and forward Tammy Abraham with the third-highest squad value in the league at roughly €237 million.

Historical Context: A Rivalry Reshaped by Spending Power

Galatasaray's current run represents one of the most dominant stretches in Turkish football history, and this season carries genuine historical stakes: a fifth consecutive title would extend a run that has already pushed the club's championship count into record-extending territory and place Galatasaray among an extremely small group of European clubs to have won five straight top-flight titles in the modern era. Fenerbahce's position is almost the mirror image — a club with the resources to compete with anyone in Turkey, yet without a championship since 2013/14, a drought now stretching well over a decade despite the club regularly assembling squads capable of challenging for the title. That gap between resources and results is precisely what makes Fenerbahce's summer spending so significant: rather than simply matching Galatasaray's investment, the club has structured this window as a deliberate attempt to close a trophy gap that money alone has not solved in over ten years. Trabzonspor's presence just behind the top two adds a further historical thread — the club remains the last side outside Istanbul's traditional big three to win the Super Lig, and their cup success last season, combined with Salah's arrival, gives provincial Turkish football a genuine chance to disrupt a rivalry that has otherwise been dominated by Istanbul clubs for well over a decade.

European Competition: Champions League Football for Both Favourites

Both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce enter the 2026/27 Champions League, which sets up a season where Turkey's two title favourites will simultaneously juggle Europe's most demanding continental competition alongside their head-to-head domestic battle. The two clubs' first Intercontinental Derby meeting is scheduled for the weekend of 24-25 October 2026, in round nine of the league campaign, with the return fixture set for round 26 around 21 March 2027 — both dates falling deep into stretches where Champions League commitments will directly affect squad rotation and player freshness. That shared European workload is a genuine leveller in a title race where Fenerbahce's spending advantage might otherwise be expected to tell more clearly: a club managing Champions League fixtures alongside a title race has less room to rely purely on financial firepower, and squad depth beyond the marquee signings could end up mattering as much as the individual quality of Greenwood, Lukaku or Ake. Current pricing on how both clubs' European commitments affect their title odds through the season is available at 1xBet and Melbet.

Summer Transfer Window: The Deals Behind Turkey's Spending Spree

The Super Lig's 2026 summer window has produced more than €260 million in spending and reshaped the competitive picture at every level of the table, not just at the very top.

Fenerbahçe's statement-making rebuild. Few clubs anywhere in Europe assembled as much attacking quality in a single window as Fenerbahce this summer. Mason Greenwood's €39 million arrival from Marseille headlines the business, backed by Nathan Ake's move from Manchester City, Vedat Muriqi's switch from Mallorca and Romelu Lukaku's high-profile arrival, while the club's winter-window additions of Matteo Guendouzi and Sidiki Cherif already gave the squad a head start heading into the summer. Combined, it is business that explicitly targets the one thing Fenerbahce's resources have not bought in over a decade: an actual championship. Live pricing on Fenerbahce's title challenge throughout the season is available at Mostbet.

Trabzonspor's marquee statement. Mohamed Salah's move to Trabzonspor, after being linked with both the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer, stands as the most unexpected transfer of the Turkish summer and immediately becomes the club's biggest-ever signing. Salah's arrival, alongside the return of Paul Onuachu, gives a club that already won the Turkish Cup and finished third last season the individual star power to genuinely believe it can trouble Galatasaray and Fenerbahce over a full campaign, even without matching either club's overall spending. Current Trabzonspor odds are available at 1Win.

Beşiktaş assemble a genuine third force. Besiktas' summer business, headlined by Dusan Vlahovic and Leandro Trossard's £20 million move from Arsenal, alongside Orkun Kokcu, Altay Bayindir and Tammy Abraham, has pushed the club's squad value to roughly €237 million — comfortably behind Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, but a clear step above the rest of the division. That level of investment is precisely why Besiktas' odds of 10.00-11.00 place them in a distinct tier above Trabzonspor rather than lumped in with the rest of the chasing pack. Updated Besiktas pricing across the title race is available at 22Bet.
